Indian Army

The Agniveer Course under the Agnipath Scheme is a 4-year service program in the Indian Army for young aspirants to serve the nation as soldiers in different categories — General Duty, Technical, Clerk/Store Keeper, and Tradesman. After 4 years, selected candidates may continue in the regular Indian Army, while others receive a Seva Nidhi financial package and skill certificates for future employment.

1. Agniveer (General Duty)

Education Qualification:

  • 10th Pass with 45% aggregate marks

  • Minimum 33% in each subject

Age Limit:

  • 17½ to 21 years

Other Eligibility:

  • Nationality: Indian or Nepali citizen

  • Marital Status: Unmarried male candidates

  • Height: Minimum 162 cm (varies by region)

  • Chest: 77 cm (with 5 cm expansion)

  • Vision: 6/6, 6/9 (without glasses)

  • Medical: No deformity, good mental and physical health


2. Agniveer (Technical)

Education Qualification:

  • 12th Pass with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics & English

  • Minimum 50% aggregate and 40% in each subject

Age Limit:

  • 17½ to 21 years

Other Eligibility:

  • For Technical Arms: Signals, EME, Engineers, Aviation, etc.

  • Computer Knowledge: Preferred

  • Height: Minimum 162 cm

  • Vision: 6/6, 6/9 (without glasses)

  • Medical: No color blindness or night blindness


3. Agniveer (Clerk / Store Keeper Technical)

Education Qualification:

  • 12th Pass (any stream – Arts, Commerce, Science)

  • 60% aggregate marks and 50% in each subject

  • Must have English & Mathematics with at least 50% each

Age Limit:

  • 17½ to 21 years

Other Eligibility:

  • Typing / Computer Skills: Required

  • Height: 162 cm minimum

  • Vision: 6/6, 6/12 (correctable)

  • Medical: Fit and healthy, no major ailments


4. Agniveer (Tradesman – 10th Pass)

Education Qualification:

  • 10th Pass (simple pass – no percentage required)

Age Limit:

  • 17½ to 21 years

Other Eligibility:

  • Trades: Cook, Tailor, Barber, Washerman, etc.

  • Height: Minimum 160 cm

  • Medical: Fit, no deformity or chronic disease

5. Agniveer (Tradesman – 8th Pass)

Education Qualification:

  • 8th Pass from recognized board

Age Limit:

  • 17½ to 21 years

Other Eligibility:

  • Trades: Safaiwala, Housekeeper, etc.

  • Height: 160 cm minimum

  • Medical: Fit and active, no serious medical condition


Common Requirements for All Categories

  • Nationality: Indian or Nepali citizens only

  • Gender: Male candidates (female recruitment may start later)

  • Marital Status: Unmarried only

  • Character Certificate: From local police / school authority

  • Fitness Test: 1.6 km run, pull-ups, zigzag balance, and push-ups

  • Documents Required: 10th / 12th mark sheet, Aadhar, domicile, photo, signature
